Baku hosts conference on women's leadership - PHOTOSESSION

APA reports that the two-day conference was organized by the Women’s Participation Program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the State Committee for Family, Women and Children of Azerbaijan. Delivering a keynote at the conference, Ilgar Aghasiyev, the project manager of the Women's Participation Program said that the goal of the meeting was to support the development of women’s leadership, ensuring women’s participation in decision-making processes and increasing the number of women participating in socio-political processes.

Following this, chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Hijran Huseynova noted that Azerbaijan is developing and in the country, the measures are being tightened towards the protection of women’s rights against domestic violence and early marriage at a state level. According to her, such projects should be supported to increase the role of women in public life and administration.

USAID/Azerbaijan Mission Director Michael Greene said that, the Women’s Participation Program serviced to empower women rights and their sustainable development.

Mehdi Salimzadeh, the head of the Center for Work with the Local Municipalities under the Ministry of Justice, Sibel Berzeg, vice-president of Counterpart International, and MPs Rabiyyet Aslanova, Ganira Pashayeva and Sevinj Fataliyeva also delivered speeches at the conference.

The event will be continued with the sessions’ meeting today and tomorrow.
