According to him, the documents of prisoners, who are in line with the requirements of the regulations on pardon order, are being gathered: “It will likely take place in the coming days. Of course, we as human rights defenders have always wanted the pardon order to be signed. We have highly estimated Azerbaijani President’s steps and hope that the President will take such a humanist step on the eve of Novruz holiday and hundreds of people will be happy again.”
The MP said that the commission received a lot of appeals, but the majority of the appeals are contrary to the requirements of the regulations on pardon order. According to regulations, the prisoner can apply after serving half of the sentence: Sometimes, without knowing it, the parents of prisoners, who were sentenced to 8-10 years in prison, appeal after 6 months. We receive a lot of appeals and it is difficult to respond to all them.”
The recent pardon order was signed on December 26 and applied to 86 prisoners.
