Baku – APA-Economics. The National Retail Federation says Valentine's Day is one of the nation's biggest commercial shopping days, with the average American expected to spend close to $131 this year to woo that someone special, APA-Economics reports.
According to the NACS website, Americans are willing to spend a wee bit more on romance compared to last year. The average person is expected to spend $130.97 on candy, cards, gifts and more, up from $126.03 last year. Total spending is projected to reach $18.6 billion.
The NRF says $4.4 billion will be spent on jewelry. Another $1.9 billion will go to flowers. And finally, $1.6 billion will be used to buy sweets for a sweetheart.
