The number of people who want to become donors after their death is about 100 over the past two years, Yegana Abbasova, Chairwoman of the Board of the Coordination Center for Organ Donation and Transplantation of the Ministry of Health, said while answering journalists' questions at a press conference, APA reports.

She said that despite the publicity and incentives, the current two-year statistics are very low.

Note that a first was achieved in the field of organ donation and transplantation in the history of healthcare in Azerbaijan. Organs from a deceased donor were transplanted. This is the first organ transplantation operation from a deceased donor in the Caucasus region.
