Today, a conference titled “Azerbaijan-China Strategic Partnership: Consolidation and Promotion of Cooperation in the Global South” was held, organized by the New Azerbaijan Party, APA reports.
The conference began with a moment of silence in honor of the memory of the National Leader of Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, and the homeland sons who sacrificed their lives for the independence and sovereignty of Azerbaijan and the People's Republic of China.
Following this, the national anthems of the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Azerbaijan were played.
Later, Tahir Budagov, Deputy Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) - Head of the Central Apparatus, who spoke at the conference, stated that against the backdrop of Azerbaijan's principled stance, the realization of the Zangazur Corridor will unite partner nations—including Azerbaijan and China—on a new multilateral platform, catalyzing enhanced constructive cooperation across Eurasia: "China's support for our country's representation in BRICS and the development of ties with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization further exemplifies genuine friendship and partnership. As ruling political parties, the New Azerbaijan Party and the Communist Party of China are determined to successfully continue their joint activities and achieve new successes, building on the friendly relations between their national leaders and the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and China."
Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Head of the International Relations Department of the CPC Central Committee, Liu Jianchao, stated that China and Azerbaijan are strategic partners, with a millennia-long history of friendship between the two countries: "China and Azerbaijan are jointly implementing a security concept in Eurasia. This cooperation creates a foundation for ensuring peace and security in the Eurasian continent."
Liu Jianchao added that China and Azerbaijan are important members of the Global South: "China and Azerbaijan combine their efforts for the development of Global South countries. As President Xi Jinping has always said, regardless of changes in the international situation, China will remain a supporter of developing countries in the Eurasian continent. The advantage of Global South countries is significant as they stand against terrorism. China and Azerbaijan have become the most effective voices of the Global South."
Ali Ahmadov, the First Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis, believes that in the future, cooperation between China and Azerbaijan will become even more multifaceted: "Azerbaijan and China’s cooperation can contribute to the emergence of more effective solutions to the threats humanity faces."
