Chief of Azerbaijan's State Security Service met with ICMP Director General

The Chief of the State Security Service, Chairman of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons, Ali Naghiyev has met with the Director-General of the International Commission on Missing Persons, APA reports citing the State Commission.

On March 10, The Chief of the State Security Service, Chairman of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons, Ali Naghiyev received the Director-General of the International Commission on Missing Persons, Kathryne Bomberger.

The sides positively evaluated the joint efforts undertaken after their meeting in April 2022 to find Azerbaijani citizens who went missing as a result of Armenia's military aggression.

The Chairman of the State Commission, Ali Naghiyev, spoke in detail about the urgent measures taken in the implementation of the tasks regarding the search for the country's missing compatriots, which the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev keeps a constant focus of attention, work done in the direction of identifying burial sites of missing individuals as a result of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, exhuming them, and identifying the found remains. The chief of the Service also mentioned that Armenia is not willing to cooperate in clarifying the fate of the missing persons and continues to demonstrate a non-constructive position.

Chairman Ali Naghiyev also shared his views on the report prepared by the International Commission's Assessment Mission, reflecting the possibilities for searching for missing persons, which was submitted to the Azerbaijani side, and expressed his gratitude for the support that the organization has shown to the work of the State Commission.

Ms. Kathryne Bomberger, the Director-General of the International Commission, touched on the significance of the report prepared by the International Commission, expressed the important work done within the framework of mutual cooperation with the State Commission and her deep confidence that joint efforts will make significant contributions to the future development of inter-commission relations.

The meeting also included extensive discussions on other issues of mutual interest related to the prompt clarification of the fate of the missing persons.
