Bakhtiyar Guliyev, one of the first martyrs of Garabagh was commemorated on his birthday for the first time since 1993 at the cemetery where he was buried, APA's local bureau reports.
The ceremony, held in the liberated Shikhbabali village of Aghdam, was attended by the martyr's relatives, public representatives, war participants, and a group of village residents.
The participants of the event visited the memorial grave of Bakhtiyar Guliyev in the cemetery of his birthplace, recited prayers for the souls of the martyrs.
During the speeches, extensive discussions were held about Bakhtiyar Guliyev. Relatives of the 16-year-old Bakhtiyar, who was martyred along with Ali Hajiyev during a peaceful march organized from Aghdam to Askeran in 1988 in response to the Armenians' territorial claims in Garabagh, shared that they felt proud that their brother swore allegiance to his homeland.
Note that the remains of Bakhtiyar Guliyev’s gravestone were discovered last year, but due to the ruins, the exact grave has not yet been identified. For this reason, a memorial grave has been created for him alongside other martyr graves.
