On March 12, 2025, a phone conversation between Jeyhun Bayramov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Seyid Abbas Araghchi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran took place, Azerbaijani MFA told APA.
During the phone conversation, issues arising from Azerbaijan-Iran bilateral and regional relations were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance of political dialogue in the development of existing Azerbaijan-Iran relations.
It was noted that the joint projects implemented in the fields of energy, transportation, and investment between Azerbaijan and Iran carry strategic importance. In particular, the transportation corridors passing through Iranian territory, as well as infrastructure projects that will connect Azerbaijan's western regions with its Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, were highlighted as creating new opportunities for the region.
The parties also noted the role of the intergovernmental economic commission in developing trade and economic relations between the two countries.
During the phone conversation, views also were exchanged about other issues of mutual interest .
