Azerbaijan sets penalties for causing minor health harm with UAVs

Penalties are being determined for violating the rules for the safety and operation of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) or other aircraft not intended for use as air transport, and for negligently causing minor harm to the health of the victim, by a person who is obliged to comply with those rules, APA reports.

This was reflected in the proposed amendment to the Criminal Code, which was discussed at today's meeting of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament).

According to the draft law, if a person who is obliged to comply with the rules for the safety and operation of an unmanned aerial vehicle or other aircraft not intended for use as air transport in connection with the work he or she performs or the position he or she holds violates these rules, causing minor harm to the health of the victim through negligence, he or she will be punished with a fine of five thousand to seven thousand manats, or correctional labor for up to two years, or restriction of liberty for up to two years, or imprisonment for up to two years, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to two years.

The draft law was put to a vote and passed on third reading.
