The alteration or destruction of monuments, as well as their relocation without approval from the relevant authority designated by the executive power, is also prohibited, APA reports.
This is reflected in the proposed amendment to the Law “On the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments,” discussed at the joint meeting of the Parliamentary Committees on Law Policy and State Building and on Culture.
According to the draft amendment, the alteration or destruction of monuments, their relocation without coordination with the designated authority, as well as carrying out construction, installation, restoration, reconstruction, conservation, or landscaping work that violates their inviolability or poses a threat to them, will be prohibited.
Under the current law, altering the artistic and aesthetic appearance of monuments, demolishing them, and carrying out repair, construction, agricultural, or other work that may pose a danger to them is prohibited.
