A civil servant’s public service may be terminated if they are called up for compulsory military or alternative service, APA reports.
The provision is reflected in proposed amendments to the law “On Civil Service,” which were discussed at today’s session of the Milli Majlis.
Except in cases where a state body is liquidated, individuals who served in a relevant state body before being called up for compulsory active military service will be reappointed to their previous or an equivalent position in that body if they apply to resume their post no later than 60 calendar days after being discharged from military service. The period of compulsory active military service performed by civil servants who held a public office immediately prior to conscription and were reappointed to a civil service position immediately after being transferred to the reserve will be counted toward their length of service.
The draft was put to a vote and adopted in the third reading.
