Azerbaijan is among the countries with a low level of HIV infection, this is mentioned in the Cabinet of Ministers' report for 2024, APA reports.
The report states that in the country, pregnant women infected with HIV are provided with antiretroviral (ARV) treatment. As a result, since 2016, there have been no cases of mother-to-child transmission of HIV among women receiving ARV therapy. In 2024, 10.2 thousand people living with HIV were registered at the AIDS Prevention Center, and 9.8 thousand individuals living with HIV received antiretroviral therapy. As a result of the targeted measures, Azerbaijan remains among the countries with a low level of HIV infection.
