For the first time in Azerbaijan, a robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery has been successfully performed at the National Oncology Center under the Ministry of Health, APA reports, citing the Ministry of Health.
The robotic device provided by China’s Kangduo company was installed at the National Oncology Center for the first time in Azerbaijan. Before the surgery, special training sessions were conducted for all medical personnel, including doctors, by experts from Kangduo invited from China and Kazakhstan.
The first procedure performed was a robot-assisted hysterectomy. The initial stages of the operation were carried out by the General Director of the National Oncology Center, academician Jamil Aliyev, while the subsequent stages were successfully completed by the center’s qualified doctors.
On September 24, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Teymur Musayev, inspected the process of performing robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery at the National Oncology Center.
The General Director of the Center, academician Jamil Aliyev, stated that this technology allows for the provision of emergency assistance instantly and with high precision, even from thousands of kilometers away, to a specific patient. Thus, a patient in a critical condition is no longer dependent solely on the capabilities of the city or country they are in — they can immediately access the knowledge and experience of international-level doctors through robots.
Currently, additional training is planned at the National Oncology Center to develop robot-assisted surgery further, along with the implementation of new operations in the departments of gynecology, urology, abdominal surgery, and coloproctology.
