From early morning today, the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex has been receiving mass visitors commemorating the 107th anniversary of the genocide against Azerbaijanis.APA reports
The visitors are laying flower arrangements at the monument erected in memory of the genocide victims, reciting prayers for their souls, and touring the memorial complex.
Guides at the complex are providing information about the genocide in Azerbaijani, English, Russian, and Arabic to visitors.
Note that since its opening in 2013, the complex has welcomed over 1.2 million visitors in total.
Sabina Hajiyeva, Head of the State Service for the Protection, Development, and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, who participated in the visit, announced that renovation work will soon begin at the complex. She noted that the roofing of the complex has deteriorated due to heavy rainfall: "Preparations for this issue have been underway for nearly a year. The budget plan has been drafted. Since the Memorial Complex was constructed with special materials, we are currently in the procurement process for these materials. Renovations will begin shortly."
