New school year begins in Azerbaijan

APA reports that the “First bell†will ring in 4523 general education schools. The press service of the Ministry of Education told APA 130454 pupils entered the elementary schools for the school year of 2011-2012. This indicator was 125408 in 2011-2012 academic years, 120032 in 2010-2011. 150998 teachers will engage in education of 1304687 pupils.
Totally 167 new schools were built in the country. 103 schools were reconstructed and additional buildings (5104 pupils) for 21 schools were built. The Ministry of Education constructed 45 new schools for 16640 pupils. Additional buildings (960) were also built for 3 education facilities and 15 schools were reconstructed.
4018990 textbooks and methodic equipments for 2012-2013 academic years were published and sent to the schools.
36102 pupils will attend the first classes of the elementary schools. This indicator was 35509 in previous academic year. More than 33000 of students will study in secondary schools, which are subordinated to the Baku City Education Office (BCEO).
The BCEO told APA that 7 new schools have been built. One of them was built by the intiative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, 2 – by the Ministry of Education and 4 – by the Executive Powers. Additional buildings have also been built for eliminating density of pupils in 32 schools. 68 schools were reconstructed.
