Baku. Kamala Guliyeva – APA. “Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources has started measure taking process due to heavy rains recently”, the chief Director of the Hydro- meteorological Forecast Bureau of the National Hydrometeorology Department Asif Vrediyev spoke to APA. According to him, rainfalls are mostly being observed in the Great Caucasus and Lankaran-Astara region. As a result, the level of the rivers in Lankaran-Astara region seriously increased. The downpour has triggered several torrential floods, mud-rock flows and landslides, creating huge difficulties in Balakan-Shaki and Oguz-Gabala regions of Azerbaijan: “Autumn floods have already started. Such rains are called monsoons. The water levels of the revers are being measured in order to define the maximum point of floods. Intermittent floods as well as torrential rains are mostly observed in Kishchay, Gumrukchay, Shinchay, Gumchay, Tikanlichay, Damiraparanchay, Goychay, Tooryanchay, Girdimanchay and Aghsuchay rivers. For the present the level of the revers of Gakh and Shaki regions will be measured. Then this process will be continued in Gabala, Ismayili and Shamakhi regions”.
A. Verdiyev said that the weather in Azerbaijan is expected to be changeable, cloudy mainly rainless: “The water levels of the rivers will recede. The rainstorm triggered torrential floods and swelling water from southern parts of the Caucasus Mountain raised the water level of Kura River. But the water level of Kura has now receded to normal and there isn’t any danger.
