As a result of occupation, wide forestry areas with unique trees, large underground resources and mineral water sources were exploited, and natural places with unique flora and fauna were destroyed. The press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources told APA that Gubadli region, which has rich natural resources and wonderful beauty of nature and locates between Zangezur mountains and Nagorno Karabakh range, was created as an administrative unit in 1933.

There was a 13,160-ha national forestry fund in the region with different types of trees. Before occupation, it had the natural monuments like 150-1600-year-old trees.

The 20,000-ha Gubadli state natural reserve at a height of 1600 meters over sea level with rich flora and fauna, had many animals and birds species who were at the verge of extinction.

There were 6247 thousands cubic meters of Hajili stone resources, 990 thousands cubic meters of Khanlig clay resources, 1,1 thousand of agate resources in Eyvazli, 84,000 c/m per day underground fresh water resources on the banks of Hakari River.
