Meteorologists warn: The temperature will rise, in some places it will reach 44 degrees

Baku. Sevil Zeynalgizi – APA. “Hot weather in summer is characteristic of Azerbaijan’s geographical position and climate. But due to the global climate changes in the recent years the number of hot days are increasing in Azerbaijan,†Director of National Hydrometeorology Department’s Forecasts Bureau at Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry Umayra Tagiyeva told APA.
She said the number of anomalous hot days had recently increased.
“The continuation of the hot waves has become more long-lasting. For example, in the previous years 40 degrees lasted for 2-4 days within a month, now the anomalous hot weather lasts for 4-5 days,†she said.
Umayra Tagiyeva said the maximum temperature in Azerbaijan in the recent days is 5.3 degrees more compared with the long-term norms. According to her, the temperature is rising due to the hot air masses from the south.
“Lower pressure area determines the weather condition over the Earth’s surface, this causes air stagnation especially in the evening. The amount of oxygen in the air reduces. Relative humidity is above normal especially in the evening. The unity of these factors is unfavorable for weather-sensitive people,†he said.
Umayra Tagiyeva said Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry warns the relevant bodies about anomalous hot weather in the country.
“The relevant bodies have been warned today again. The temperature will rise in Azerbaijan by August 3. The temperature will reach 38… 40 C in Baku and Absheron peninsula, 40 C in some parts of the peninsula and some places of Baku. The temperature will reach 38… 42 C in the lowland regions and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 44 C in some places, 35… 38 C in the mountainous regions. No serious weather changes are expected in the next few days,†she said.
Umayra Tagiyeva said this is not record indicator for Azerbaijan. According to the hundred-year meteorological observations, the highest temperature in the country was recorded in 2000. The temperature was 46 C in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic early in August that year.
