A plenary session titled "The Turkic world as one family: Activities of international Turkic cooperation organizations for common goals" was held as part of Turkic World Week dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress, APA reports.
The President of the National Academy of Sciences, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY) Sultan Raev, President of the International Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, and President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Aktoty Raimkulova delivered speeches at the session.
President of the National Academy of Sciences, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, said that the First Turkological Congress, in its time, defined the system and scientific model of Turkology for the first time: "The program of the First Turkological Congress included a wide range of important topics related to the Turkic world, including monuments, prominent figures, history, and culture."
Speaking afterwards, the Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY) Sultan Raev said that the Turkic world is one big family. He stressed that each of the organizations promoting cooperation among the Turkic states and peoples works for the sake of unity, solidarity, and brotherhood.
President of the International Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev said in his speech that the creation of a common terminology in Turkic languages was one of the main objectives of the First Turkological Congress:
"Continuing our activities in this direction, we have implemented an important project. The project covers the terminology of Turkic languages across various fields. To date, an eight-volume terminological publication has been prepared within the framework of the project. This work will continue consistently in the future," he said.
President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Aktoty Raimkulova stated that an international event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress will be held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
At the end of the session, a group of cultural and public figures were awarded the "100th Anniversary of the First Turkological Congress (1926–2026)" commemorative badge.
The recipients included Academician Rafael Huseynov, Academician Nizami Jafarov, current Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev, President of Türkiye's Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History Professor Derya Örs, President of the Turkish Language Association Osman Mert, Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic Mirbek Mambetaliev, and others.
