Terrorists around the world are actively adapting to new technologies, using them for recruitment and funding, said UN Secretary-General António Guterres, APA reports.
"Terrorists of all stripes are adapting; new technologies are making it easier for them to recruit and finance. Criminal networks are accelerating the flow of money and weapons, which now includes deadly drones," he said at the 4th High-Level Conference of Heads of Counter-Terrorism Agencies of the world organization's member countries.
Guterres noted that criminals are exploiting technologies such as artificial intelligence, digital platforms, and unmanned aerial vehicles, among others. At the same time, the UN Secretary-General emphasized, these same technologies provide countries with powerful tools "for early detection of threats, disruption of the flow of illicit assets, and understanding the radicalization pathways of terrorists."
