The opening ceremony of the Turkic World Week dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress was held at the Heydar Aliyev Center on June 29, APA reports.
Farah Aliyeva, Head of the Humanitarian Policy, Diaspora, Multiculturalism and Religious Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, read out President Ilham Aliyev's address to the participants.
Minister of Culture Adil Karimli said Azerbaijan has always attached great importance to the legacy of the First Turkological Congress and that the centenary is being celebrated at the state level on the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev. He noted that the meetings held as part of Turkic World Week would contribute to new scientific and cultural cooperation, adding that the events would also continue in Shusha, Khankendi, and Aghdam.
Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliev said the ideas of the First Turkological Congress remain relevant today for the integration and cooperation of the Turkic world.
Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis and academician Rafael Huseynov described the Congress as a major turning point in the scientific, cultural, and political history of the Turkic world.
The opening ceremony concluded with a cultural program.
Turkic World Week will continue until July 3. It is jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, and the Ministry of Science and Education, in partnership with the Organization of Turkic States, TURKSOY, Baku State University, the Turkic Academy, and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation. The event has brought together 80 prominent Turkologists and representatives of Turkic international organizations from 20 countries.

Turkic World Week, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress, has begun in Baku, APA reports.
The week, consisting of a series of events related to science and culture, is being held in accordance with the Order signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, on October 22, 2025, "On the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress."
The Turkic World Week, which will continue until July 3, is jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), and the Ministry of Science and Education, in partnership with the Organization of Turkic States, TURKSOY, Baku State University, the Turkic Academy, and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation.
