Azad Rahimov reacts to arrest of young bloggers Emin Milli and Adnan Hajizadeh

Baku. Elnur Mammadli – APA. Minister of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan Azad Rahimov held a press conference on the ministry’s activity during past 8 months of 2009, APA reports. The minister said nearly one thousand young people spent a holiday in the summer camps organized by the ministry. 150 young people attended the international events. 23 organizations-winners of NGO grant project announced in 2007 were funded this year. The minister said they received about 100 projects, which were reviewed by the public council now. “We will fund some of these projects by the end of year”. Rahimov said Council of Europe organized Summer School in Baku. University of Economics and Employment Center continue their joint activity to prevent unemployment and nearly 1300 young people found jobs so far.

Rahimov said the ministry would organize first meeting of students by the end of year. He said Olympiads on physics, chemistry and biology would be held and 37 countries already confirmed their participation. The ministry is also planning series of events within the CIS year. The cooperation agreements will be signed with Cuba, Egypt and Kuwait soon.

The minister answered the question about the arrest of young bloggers Emin Milli and Adnan Hajizadeh. He said he knew Emin Milli. “Emin is a young man, who frequently changes his ideas. I believe that there could be a scuffle between young people in that café. The court will investigate and identify who is guilty. I believe there will be fair trial”.
