The 110th meeting of the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) has been held in Moscow, APA's Moscow bureau reports.
Azerbaijan was represented at the meeting by First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov.
Armenia once again did not send a high-level representative to the meeting. Instead, the country was represented at the CIS Economic Council meeting by its Ambassador to Belarus, Razmik Khumaryan.
During the meeting, which was held in a limited format, the heads of delegations exchanged views on current issues of economic cooperation within the CIS and reviewed sevreal documents.
Members of the Economic Council approved a draft decision of the CIS Council of Heads of State on conducting national population censuses in 2030. The document calls for the censuses to be conducted as close to 2030 as possible, as well as for the preparation of a unified list of socio-economic and migration indicators to ensure the comparability of the results.
The meeting participants reviewed the report on the activities of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications and the Coordination Council for Informatization for 2021–2025.
The Economic Council also approved the Main Action Plan for the Implementation of the Conceptual Framework for Cooperation on Labor Standards among CIS member states for 2026–2030 and reviewed the report on civil protection for victims of competition violations.
Special attention was paid to the macroeconomic development indicators of the CIS countries for 2025. According to preliminary estimates, the gross domestic product of the CIS member states increased by 2.1%. The overall unemployment rate decreased by 9% compared to the previous year, reaching 3.6 million people, or 3.1% of the labor force.
A decision was made to hold the next meeting of the CIS Economic Council in Ashgabat on September 11, 2026.
