Azerbaijani Human Rights Commissioner’s address to Minister of Education

Baku. Elnur Mammadli – APA. Human Rights Commissioner Elmira Suleymanova addressed Minister of Education Misir Mardanov. The Commissioner’s Office told APA it has monitored the number of schools and identified some of them in emergency situation. The Human Rights Commissioner told the minister that the number of schools in the regions of Shaki, Zagathala, Gabala, Devechi, Khachmaz and Siyazan need to be repaired. She specially emphasized the schools in Girkhbulag village of Shaki, Mirzagishlag and Yalavanj villages of Guba, Muzaffaroba and Kohne Khachmaz villages of Khachmaz, Bakhishli, Yeni Yashma and Findigan villages of Khizi region. She said the schools were useless for the education process. The commissioner asked the minister to accelerate the work on reconstruction and repair of the school buildings to secure the right of children for education.

Sulyemanova also noted the problems in the kindergartens of some regions.

The Human Rights Commissioner also addressed the Ministry of Emergency Situations and local authorities of Shaki region to repair the roof of Girkhbulag village’s school, which was seriously damaged as a result of strong wind and to reconstruct the school building.
