Missing persons of Karabakh conflict commemorated in Gandja

Gandja. Jamshid Bakhtiyar – APA. On the occasion of August 31 – International Day of Missing Persons, the representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Red Crescent Society met with the families of the missing people in Gandja. APA’s west bureau reports that the relatives of over 300 missing persons attended the event.

They had the opportunity to enter the information about the missing persons into the computers. Things, photos, letters and other writings of the missing persons were exhibited at the event.

Coordinator of Gandja Regional Center of the Red Crescent Society Ismayil Asadov told APA that there are about 600 missing persons in the western region, information has been collected about 300 of them. ICRC representative said memory book consisting of the materials collected about the missing persons will be published soon.

ICRC, which has been cooperating with Azerbaijani State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons since 1992, registered 4500 missing persons from both sides. Over 3500 of them are Azerbaijanis.
