21 Korean students learn Azerbaijani in their country

Baku – APA. The number of the Azerbaijanis studying in Korea is increasing. Azerbaijani embassy in Korea told APA that about 50 Azerbaijanis are studying in Seoul, Busan, Daejeon, Daegu, Quangcu, 14 Azerbaijanis are studying in Kyung Hee University. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is the honorary doctor of this university.

Azerbaijani is being taught once a week within the framework of the Turkish language faculty in Korea University of Foreign Languages since March, 2008. 25 Korean students participated in the Azerbaijani language courses last year.

Late in 2008, decision was made to officially establish Turkish-Azerbaijani languages faculty in Korea University of Foreign Languages. The Azerbaijani language courses began in spring, 2009.

The embassy presented textbooks on the Azerbaijani language, literature, culture and history to Korea University of Foreign Languages. The embassy also organized 10-day visit of professor of the Turkish-Azerbaijani languages faculty Oh Cong Cin to Azerbaijan.

Professors of the Turkish-Azerbaijani languages faculty Oh Cong Cin and Yeon Qyu Seok are teaching Azeri basing on the textbooks and materials presented by the embassy. 21 Korean students are learning Azeri now.
