Düsseldorf. Ulker Gasimova – APA. Pop superstars Blue represent UK at the “Eurovision-2011” Song Contest. This popular group, which has enough fans, had its rehearsals at “Esprit Arena”. Blue is one of the favorite finalists of the contest with its song “I can”. APA correspondent interviews with the members of the popular group Simon Webbe, Lee Ryan, Duncan James, Antony Costa in Düsseldorf

- We have already had our rehearsals in “Eurovision” stage and everything was successful. We have not faced any difficulties during our rehearsals at the stage. We hope that everything will pass in such high level in the final. The spectators, who followed our rehearsals, welcomed our performances and it satisfies us.

- Everybody considers you as the winner of “Eurovision” song contest. What do you think about that?

- If we consider that 24 countries participate in the final in addition to us, one can come to a decision that everybody has a same chance. Only five countries win a chance to perform directly in the final. The other 20 countries are elected during semi-finals voting. Every country has a chance to win, especially in this year’s contest, because the performances are very successful. We came to the contest not to win, but to feel the atmosphere of this contest and use the chances created by Eurovision for the singers. For example, in some countries, including Azerbaijan, we have always wanted to give concert, but our desire was not implemented, and only owing to Eurovision we could do it.

- Blue is enough popular in the world and you have an unbelievable amount of fans. Will this popularity help you in the contest?

- We hope that enough popular singers want to win this contest. Of course we understand that there is a dominance of being famous. Those who heard that Great Britain is represented by us show interest and want to listen to our song. It creates chance for our song to win popularity and to be released.

- You have seen many stages during your activity. What differences are between those stages and Eurovision stage?

- This is just a Eurovision stage. The stage where the necessary equipments are gathered for presenting the amusing, original and high level shows…

- Who did propose your participation in the contest? The singers use Eurovision to be known in the world. But you are quite popular. What did force you to come to Eurovision?

- BBC TV channel firstly appealed us with this proposal and wanted us to represent UK in the final. We are proud of representation of our country in any contest not depending on how much you are famous in the world. Our country seriously approaches the Eurovision contest.

- You visited Azerbaijan before the contest. What impressions do you have about our country and people?

- We have excellent impressions about Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani women are very beautiful. Unfortunately, our staying in Azerbaijan was short and we couldn’t see the places outside Baku and we couldn’t visit most of the sights of Baku, but what we saw there created good impressions about your city. We hope that we will have a chance to visit Azerbaijan again. We visited some restaurants and tasted the national cookeries, which are very delicious. We knew amazing taste of your coffee. We wish to return to Azerbaijan again.

- UK is qualified directly for the Eurovision final, but couldn’t reach good results in recent years. Why?

- May be our songs were not suitable for top five or top ten, because it is important to have a song, show and voice that will lead you to the victory. If you don’t win it means that one of these performances is not good.

- Do the politics have any role in this contest?

- May be and sometimes it plays real role. But we would like the viewers to remember that this is a musical contest, they have to forget the politics and vote for the music, but not for the neighbor countries or political partners.

- Many famous and popular singers participated in 56-year Eurovision contest. But the history shows that popularity of the person has no impact on his or her performance in the contest. Will you repent for the participation in the contest if you don’t win?

- No. We will never repent. Everyone comes here to win. But we will not repent for anything if we don’t win. We are ready to represent our country in the next years. Our group likes experiments, novelties and Eurovision is new for us. We would like to feel this excitement.

- What about the Eurovision 2011 favorites?

- We support Austrian singer because she has perfect voice. French and Azerbaijani participants are also among our favorites. Every participant is a competitor. We determine our top five and Azerbaijan is among them.

- How do you value the chance of Azerbaijani singers to win in the contest?

- We visited some countries, including Azerbaijan within the contest’s promo tour. We heard your song and then met its performers. This is very successful song and their voices are harmonious with each other. Azerbaijan has very high chances to win. Azerbaijan always had good results and your singers were in top ten during the country’s four-year participation in the contest. It means that Azerbaijan seriously approaches this contest and its songs are very popular in Europe…
