Annual Head of Delegation meeting of â€œEurovision-2011â€ is taking place in DÃ¼sseldorf

The annual Head of Delegation meeting is taking place in DÃ¼sseldorf today and tomorrow which is a perfect opportunity for all the 43 nations to present themselves and their songs, APA reports. All the final versions of the songs and the preview video clips have to be handed in at this meeting. Furthermore, the host broadcaster NDR gives an update on the preparations for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest.

The Head of Delegation meeting started with all the 43 countries presenting themselves. Italy - returning to the contest after 14 years - was greeted with a big applause. Thomas Schreiber, â€œARDâ€ TV channelâ€™s head of entertainment, explained that DÃ¼sseldorf was chosen as the host city because it has one of the most modern arenas in Germany. Ralf Quibeldey, Executive Producer, then went on to present the arena and its facilities. He revealed that the press centre will be located next to the arena in the Athletics Sports Hall. Next to it, there will be tents for catering for the thousands of journalists and fans coming to the event.

There will be 700 working spots for journalists equipped with 300 computers, and 400 additional working spaces. A special lounge area will be created as well, with room for 200 people. 2500 pigeon holes will be available where journalists can find the latest information about the 43 countries participating.

The stage will include a satellite approximately 40 metres in front of the stage, and will have a huge LED-screen in the backpart. The stage was intentionally kept small, as the concentration should be in the centre of attention. The floor of the stage will be equipped with LED-stripes and will have two ramps. The Green Room will be situated behind the stage. The lighting design will be done by renowned artist Jerry Appelt. The LED-walls will be 60 x 18 metres with 520 lightning units, and the audience light will be part of the staging. Furthermore, 26 cameras will be in use. The Grand Final opening act will contain last year’s winning song Satellite performed by Stefan Raab’s Big Band.

The interval act in the final will be popular German singer Jan Delay and his group Disko No.1

The idea of the postcards will include national flavors for each of the 43 countries with the slogan â€œFeel Your Heart Beatâ€ being pronounced in the national language.
