US President Donald Trump put an end to a bloody, deadly conflict that had lasted for more than thirty years, President Ilham Aliyev said at the award ceremony of the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity in Abu Dhabi, APA's correspondent dispatched to Abu Dhabi reports.
" I also express gratitude to all the colleagues who addressed the kind messages to the ceremony and once again emphasize the importance of peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia not only for the two countries, but also for the wider region. We were at war for more than 30 years. Now we have been living in peace for six months. As I have said many times, we are learning. Learning to live in peace, I can tell, is a special feeling. We have never lived in peace since we became independent. And we are learning fast. Thus, the last six months since the historic summit held in Washington, hosted by US President Donald Trump, have been a month of partnership, cooperation, and action towards long-term and lasting peace. I also want to express my gratitude to the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, for his contribution to peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He hosted a trilateral summit on August 8, 2025, which resulted at initialing agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and signed a joint declaration. President Trump also signed it as a witness, and thus put an end to a long-term, more than thirty-year bloody, deadly conflict,” the head of state said.
