The Washington administration sees no urgent need to accept Iran's proposals to open the Strait of Hormuz, APA reports citing CBS.
"The US position is very strong, given that we control the Strait of Hormuz, so we're in no rush. Nearly 40 million barrels of oil have been transported through the strait in the last 48 hours," the official noted, responding to reports that Iran had proposed a settlement plan that would allow for the resumption of normal shipping through the strait within seven days. The newspaper's source assured that the US is conducting "positive and constructive consultations through intermediaries."
