The issue of delimitation of the Azerbaijan-Armenia border was discussed during a Brussels meeting facilitated by Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, between President Ilham Aliyev of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia, said Charles Michel at the press conference after the meeting, APA reports.
He said that the parties expressed their unequivocal commitment to the 1991 Almaty Declaration.
"Both leaders reaffirmed their unequivocal commitment to the 1991 Almaty Declaration," Charles Michel emphasized.
Charles Michel noted that he welcomed the meeting of the border commissions of Azerbaijan and Armenia that took place on July 12:
"I welcomed the meeting of the two border commissions on July 12."
He pointed out that the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed to intensify the work of the delimitation commissions.
"Both leaders reaffirmed their unequivocal commitment to the 1991 Almaty Declaration as the political framework for delimitation. I welcomed the July 12 meeting of both border commissions. Discussions on the status of these commissions and the basis of delimitation have been carried forward. It is very important that the leaders agreed to accelerate and intensify the work of the commissions," said Charles Michel.
