Four major train stations, including Rotterdam Central, Utrecht Central, Haarlem, and Dordrecht stations, were partly evacuated on Tuesday morning after unattended bags were discovered, NL Times reports.
Utrecht, Rotterdam, and Dordrecht have since reopened after nothing suspicious was found in the bags. Because leaving bags unattended at a station is not allowed, two people were arrested at Utrecht Central on suspicion of disturbing public order. NOS also reported two arrests in Haarlem. The latest string of incidents took place two weeks after suspected acts of sabotage shut down large portions of the Dutch rail system.
A connection between the bags at four different stations is being investigated, a ProRail spokesperson told NOS. A police spokesperson called the case “highly remarkable.”
