United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Tuesday that the organization remains "simply irreplaceable" as world leaders use the UN General Assembly to discuss major global challenges and hold direct talks, APA reports.
"Not only did they participate in our General Assembly, but they had the opportunity to meet with each other; there were negotiations taking place for peace," Guterres said. He added that the UN is "the only place in the world where all countries can come together and discuss our common problems."
