Azerbaijan introduces higher fines for repeated burning of cropland

New fines are being set for repeatedly committing the burning of cropland by a person who has already been subjected to an administrative penalty for the same offense, APA reports.

This is reflected in the amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses approved by President Ilham Aliyev.

Under the Code, for burning cropland, individuals shall be fined from AZN 400 to AZN 600, officials from AZN 1,500 to AZN 2,000, or, taking into account the circumstances of the case and the identity of the offender, if the application of these measures is deemed insufficient, administrative detention for up to one month shall be imposed, while legal entities shall be fined from AZN 5,000 to AZN 6,000.

For the repeated commission of the above-mentioned offense by a person who has been subjected to an administrative penalty within one year from the date the decision on imposing the administrative penalty enters into force, individuals shall be fined from AZN 600 to AZN 800, officials from AZN 2,000 to AZN 2,500, or, taking into account the circumstances of the case and the identity of the offender, if the application of these measures is deemed insufficient, administrative detention for a period of one to two months shall be imposed, while legal entities shall be fined from AZN 6,000 to AZN 7,000.
