Baku. Shamil Alibeyli - APA. “I’d like to do as much as we can to have programs relating to the freedom of the media and professional media,” the U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar said at the seminar “Media ethics in the electoral process”, answering the question on resumption of trainings and programs for journalists, APA reports.
“We do have a whole series of programs, but the fact of life is budget money is do decrease and so it makes it difficult to do to media as much as we’ve done in the past,” said the Ambassador.
Morningstar was asked whether the diplomatic mission monitors the media reports about him: “We obviously follow the press, but again not specifically as to what people say about me. I don’t pay the whole of attention for this point. Sometimes I feel that we are in difficult situation, because anything what we say is annoying to the government and sometimes what we say a lot of the opposition press and opposition people isn’t enough. It is hard to create appropriate balance between these kinds of issues.”
