Publication of â€œAzagligâ€ newspaper may be suspended

Baku. Etibar Mammadov – APA. First Deputy Editor of Azadlig newspaper Rahim Hajiyev held a press conference on the problems of the newspaper.

APA reports that Hajiyev said that the newspaper has financial problems. He noted that the Gasid Company doesn’t want to repay its debts. “Our situation has been worsened more as a result of the cessation of newspaper sale in subway stations. We were unable to pay the wages of employees of the newspaper over the last two months. The Gasid Company started to delay payments to the newspaper since April, 2012. The negotiations with the leadership of the Company didn’t yield any results. We are in a very difficult situation”, he said.

Hajiyev said that the “Azadlig” newspaper has large debt to “Azerbaijan” Publishing House. “The publishing House contacted us two days ago and said that we owe them AZN 18000 debt and in case of failure to pay the debt till June it will suspend the publication of the newspaper”, he said.
