Baku. Gulnar Bashirova – APA. “I think it’s normal for the Azerbaijani media to pay attention to the downing of an Armenian military helicopter on the contact line of Armenian and Azerbaijani troops. I also understand the willingness of mass media outlets and news portals to share the footage. But it’s inadmissible to allow any haste on the matter. It should have seriously been specified with the Defense Ministry”, Chairman of the Press Council, Aflatun Amashov told APA.
Amashov also mentioned the existence of a presidential order on some security measures on the contact line between the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.
He said the order is important in terms of defining categories of responsibility for the spread of such information: “The downing moment of the helicopter could not have been filmed by a journalist. In this case, it’s questionable how media obtained the footage. I think it needs serious investigation. If there’s any inexperience or abuse, it must be eliminated. The issue needs a complex approach.
Because such cases can bring about great sedition in future. Once more, I ask my counterparts and relevant structures to approach issues this important with much responsiveness”.
