Baku. Konul Kamilgizi – APA. “Azerbaijani media has a lot of problems regarding coverage of women’s problems. Women are undergoing domestic violence, becoming victims of human trafficking and forced to early marriage avoiding from education,” said President of APA Holding Vusala Mahirgizi addressing the 4th Congress of Women of Azerbaijan, APA reports.

She said that the aforementioned problems are regularly highlighted in the media: “Unfortunately, the media and TV channels sometimes introduce these events turning a victim to the subject of the show. It would be better to discuss such problems in the form of debates with the participation of psychologists, sociologists, persons of public administration and to reveal the essence of problem. It is important for the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs to directly contact and work with media.”

President of APA Holding said that the vast majority of women are active in public and on social networks. Mahirgizi invited those who were left out of this process to be active on social networks: “They should give their messages. Young people need messages and advice of wise women. Talking about women's issues, we should talk not only about women, but also about the youth and children. The greatest success and masterpiece of any woman are her children. Therefore there should be programs on TV about children.”

Mahirgizi offered to create a woman idol in the media with the support of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs in the future. She said today, only women in the field of culture are considered idols: “However, today there are well-known women with a good story of success in the spheres of politics, science, health and press. Life of a woman, who has brought up a child in a tent camp, given him/her education, offered a chance to study at the university, can be considered an example of heroism. Bringing up a child in unbearable conditions is an example of great sacrifice and heroism. We should introduce to the society such women, not the women in the showbiz.”
