Azerbaijani President issues order on allocation of AZN 5 mln for construction of new building for journalists

The preamble of the document says that creation of safer conditions for the effective functioning of the mass media is one of the urgent issues of the state, as Azerbaijan is developing dynamically, the democratization process is gradually deepening and all spheres of social life are updated. The amount of state aid allocated for the national media in recent years has significantly increased, editorial boards and individual journalist projects have been supported and successive measures taken to strengthen social protection of journalists. 17-storey building with 156 apartments has been constructed for journalists under the order #1041 of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On measures to strengthen the social protection of Azerbaijani journalists" dated 22 July 2010.

Under the order, AZN 5 million is allocated to the State Fund for the Support of Mass Media Development under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan from President’s Reserve Fund envisaged in 2013 state budget for improvement of the living conditions of Azerbaijani journalists and construction of new residential building for them.
