The Committee told APA that the survey was conducted among newspapers, information agencies, magazines, journalistic organizations and internet media resources.
Totally 100 respondents were asked to answer the question “Which public, political figure, official do you consider the friend of journalists?”
They might have chosen 3 persons. Only 20% of them mentioned more than one person. The majority of the respondents considered that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev deserves the prize “The friend of journalists”. 89% of them voted for the Head of State.
"RUH" ACPJ’s main purpose in establishment of "Journalists’ friend" award is to develop and promote the principles of freedom of speech and information in the society, to assist in the strengthening of relations between media and government agencies, private organizations, public associations and political parties, and stimulate the traditions of care for mass media. According to the provision of the award, the Azerbaijani citizens, who have the distinctive merits for development of media, may be the laureate.
