APA reports that they discussed the situation over Azerbaijan’s draft law “On defamation”.
The meeting was attended by APA Holding president Vusala Mahirgizi, editor-in-chief of Yeni Musavat newspaper Raud Arifoghlu, chairman of Democratic Journalists’ League Yadigar Mammadli and editor of Azadliq newspaper Rahim Hajiyev.
The initiative on the draft law has been put forward by the OSCE Office in Baku. The draft law has been submitted to the Azerbaijani Parliament by the Press Council. The Venice Commission is preparing opinion on the draft law.
The Venice Commission will discuss this issue with NGOs.
