News is under greater threat due to the ability of artificial intelligence to create false or misleading information, said Elham Abedini, director of the international relations department of Iran's "Press TV" channel, at a panel session dedicated to "Responsible Journalism and Digital Innovation" held within the framework of the D-8 Media Forum, APA reports.
The Iranian expert noted that although artificial intelligence creates many opportunities for media organizations, it can also be a source of inaccurate news.
"In journalism, we have always believed that facts are more important than speed and can never be sacrificed for the sake of speed. However, now news is under greater threat due to the ability of artificial intelligence to create false or misleading information," she said.
According to her, the biggest challenge is the spread of fake news and "deepfakes": "If we want journalism to remain responsible, we must pay more attention to fact-checking and combating disinformation. It is important to acknowledge these problems, but the main issue is how to solve them."
