US-Azerbaijan Media Academy submits graduation certificates

Baku. Victoria Dementieva – APA. Today, the US-Azerbaijan Media Academy has held presentation ceremony for submission of certificates to its next graduates. APA reports that the certificates were submitted to the 14 graduates. This was sixth graduation from the academy, which is the joint project of the US embassy and Azerbaijan’s ANS TV Company.

ANS president Vahid Mustafayev made a speech in the ceremony and said that more than 100 professional journalists passed trainings in the Academy up to now. Mustafayev thanked the US and Azerbaijani experts, who participated in training of journalists.

Head of the OSCE Office in Baku Koray Targay said that he supported several projects on the development of mass media in Azerbaijan and noted that the country needs professional journalists. Targay especially noted the importance of training of professionals in sphere of research journalism and recalled Chingiz Mustafey as example.

The ambassador said that the activity of Media Academy is useful.

U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires in Azerbaijan Adam Sterling noted that the development of free media in Azerbaijan was one of the priorities of the US and still remains so: “I proud of that the US participates in this program.”
