Press secretary of US embassy in Azerbaijan visits APA

Baku. Habil Suleymanov â€“ APA. Press secretary of the US embassy in Azerbaijan Keith Bean met with Director General of â€œAPA Groupâ€ Vusala Mahirgizi. Director General welcomed the guest, informed him about the organization led by her and spoke about development prospects of internet media in Azerbaijan.

Noting the rapid development of this sphere in Azerbaijan, Mahirgizi said she supposed the increase of internet users, especially â€œFacebookâ€ and â€œTwitterâ€ users in Azerbaijan for several times in the nearest future. She said that internet media gives people freedom which the other Medias canâ€™t give. People in Azerbaijan prefer not only reading and listening, but also expressing opinion.

Bean underlined that the rapid development of internet in Azerbaijan was a notable tendency. He was interested in the situation of internet mediaâ€™s legislative basis, the possibility of regulation of electronic media and the other issues.

Then Bean familiarized himself with APA Groupâ€™s activity and collective.
