APA presents Military Reporters Directory - PHOTOSESSION
Guliyev said Azerbaijan was at war and therefore defense issues were frequently covered by the press. “There are some problems with use of military terms in these publications. Therefore we decided to issue this directory to help solving of these problems. We think that it will be good guidance for the journalistsâ€.
The book’s editor Javid Jabbaroglu said the journalists would determine how successful this idea was. The copies of directory will be shared free among the media organizations and libraries. Jabbaroglu expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Actions (ANAMA), Defense Ministry, State Border Service, Internal Troops, Ministry of Defense Industry and Public Union of Retired Officers for their assistance.
One of the book co-authors Rashad Suleymanov noted that military reporters sometimes make primitive mistakes and this book aims to help lifting of such negative cases. It also contains information about the defense history of Azerbaijan and the dates of occupation of the Azerbaijani regions.
Co-author Ramil Mammadli said nearly 300 military terms were collected in the book. He said it would help the journalists to leave former USSR-terms they use frequently in their publications.
Deputy Editor-in-Chief of “Azerbaijan Ordusu†(Azerbaijani Army) newspaper Ibrahim Rustamov, chairman of Public Union of Azerbaijani Anti-Mine Campaign Hafiz Safikhanov, press officer of the Voluntary Military Patriotic, Sport and Technical Society Valid Gardashli spoke about the importance of the book. They said it would be useful not only for the journalists, but also for other people interested in this field.
