Well-known Azerbaijani journalist dies

Baku – APA. Veteran of Azerbaijani journalism Azad Sharifov died at 79 as a result of stomach hemorrhage, APA reports quoting Vesti.az. Azad Sharifov was born in 1930 in Baku. He worked for the newspaper “Molodyoj Azerbaidjana” at his 19 and joined the newspaper “Fizkulturnik Azerbaijdjana in 1951. He was appointed to the post of editor of “Molodyoj Azerbaidjana” later. He was a komsomol and party activist in Moscow and took the post of deputy editor-in-chief of Russian “Vokrug Sveta” magazine. He worked as a reporter of the Russian newspaper “Izvestia” in Turkey, Iran and Afghanistan. Azad Sharifov led the cultural department of the Azerbaijan Communist Party’s Central Committee and Azerinform news agency. The journalist will be buried in Bulbula village of Baku on Thursday.
