European and Asian Media Forum starts in Moscow - <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION</font>

APA reports that heads of famous media outlets, top managers and public figures from CIS and Baltic states are attending the forum.

Making a keynote speech at the forum editor-in-chief of RIA Novosti Svetlana Mironyuk said 140 representatives from 14 countries were attending the forum. She said in most cases the results of the professional mutual activity of journalists prevailed over political, economic cooperation in the interstate context. Svetlana Mironyuk said the issues to be discussed in the forum were divided into three groups. These are technological issues (ways of delivering information, multimedia), journalism as a profession and political, ideological issues. Svetlana Mironyuk said media outlets were developing in the post-Soviet space and underlined the importance of keeping up with the world practice and being ahead of the time. She said struggle against plagiarism was the main element of freedom of speech and pluralism. The forum continues.

This is the fourth forum held with participation of the media representatives of post-Soviet countries. The first forum was held on the initiative of RIA Novosti in 2006.

The aim of the forum is to discuss the problems of media outlets in the modern world. This year’s forum is broader – heads of over 150 famous media and internet publications of the post-Soviet countries, a lot of guests are attending the event.

The program of the forum includes meetings of the participants with their Russian colleagues, heads of state bodies, famous politicians and public figures. The forum will be held in the format of discussions, roundtables, panels, discussions will be held on the activity of media outlets and joint multimedia projects.

The forum will continue its work in different discussions on December 10. It will focus on multimedia, new information technologies, press and coverage of developments, mass media and problems of international cooperation, television, the role of individuals in multimedia, journalism in the information society, tolerance and problems of professional ethics. The participants of the forum will also cover the subjects of confrontation of information, global crisis and mass media, joint media space and responsibility of the sides. Presenters Algis Kalanta (press), Alexei Venediktov (radio) and Alexander Gurnov (television) will organize master-classes. Some final documents are expected to be adopted in the forum. Then RIA-Novosty agency will present its information products and then will organize reception and after that the forum will finalize its work. Azerbaijani delegation of the heads of Azerbaijani media organizations and representatives of the non-governmental organizations represented at the European and Asian Media Forum in Moscow will be headed by the chief of political analysis and information support department Fuad Akhundov. APA General Director Vusala Mahirgizi also left for Moscow to attend the media forum.
