Europe and Asia Media Forum starts in Moscow tomorrow

Editor-in-chief of RIA Novosti Svetlana Mironyuk will make a keynote speech at the forum. Following this, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Kanat Saudabayev, spokesman for Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Peskov, Culture Minister Alexander Avdeev will address the forum. After the speeches of the guests the forum will continue in the plenary sessions. Discussions on the themes “Mass media of the post-Soviet space and social development. New professional approaches and tendencies” and “Eurasia: questions and answers on regional security” will be held on the first day of the forum. Russian Minister of Mass Communications Igor Shchegolev, chairman of Rospechat Mikhail Seslavinski, chairman of Latvian Journalists Union Yuris Payders, chairman of Russian Journalists Union Vsevolod Bogdanov, special representative of Russian president Mikhail Shvidkoy, president of the Izvestia newspaper Vladimir Mamontov, chairman of Golos Rossii radio company Andrei Bistritsky, executive secretary of CIS Executive Committee Sergei Lebedev, representative of Institute of Political and Military Analysis, political analyst Sergei Markedonov, head of analytical department of Azerbaijan Public Television Telman Mammadov will make speeches on the themes.

The forum will continue its work in different discussions on December 10. It will focus on multimedia, new information technologies, press and coverage of developments, mass media and problems of international cooperation, television, the role of individuals in multimedia, journalism in the information society, tolerance and problems of professional ethics. The participants of the forum will also cover the subjects of confrontation of information, global crisis and mass media, joint media space and responsibility of the sides. Presenters Algis Kalanta (press), Alexei Venediktov (radio) and Alexander Gurnov (television) will organize master-classes. Some final documents are expected to be adopted in the forum. Then RIA-Novosty agency will present its information products and then will organize reception and after that the forum will finalize its work. Azerbaijani delegation of the heads of Azerbaijani media organizations and representatives of the non-governmental organizations represented at the European and Asian Media Forum in Moscow will be headed by the chief of political analysis and information support department Fuad Akhundov. APA General Director Vusala Mahirgizi also left for Moscow to attend the media forum.
