"2023 was a golden year for Türkiye; we sent our first astronaut, Alper Gezeravcı, to the International Space Station," Yusuf Kıraç, President of the Turkish Space Agency, told APA.

He spoke about the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye in the space sector: "On the other hand, Türkiye launched its domestically produced communications satellite, Türksat 6A. This made Türkiye the 11th country in the world to manufacture its own communications satellite. These advancements in satellite technology and other space fields are very important for our exchange of expertise with Azerbaijan. Both Azerbaijan and Türkiye have experiences to share with each other. Currently, we are working closely with the Azerbaijan Space Agency (Azercosmos). As Azercosmos and the Turkish Space Agency, I believe we will carry out remarkable joint projects in the future. Additionally, as members of the Organization of Turkic States, we have goals and collaborative activities in satellite production and other fields. In times to come, this partnership will bring significant benefits to both countries. Both Azerbaijan and Türkiye possess satellites with critical data. Sharing, jointly processing this data, and collaborating on the data from the Space Weather Application Center can lead to significant progress in information exchange between our nations."

He also emphasized that the data obtained from Azerbaijan's satellites will yield significant results for both countries: "I believe that with the data from both countries' satellites, we will be able to conduct broader analyses in the future."
