Car sales fall in Europe

Baku. Vahab Rzayev – APA – Economics. Car sales in the European Union fell 16.6 per cent or 1 027 036 cars were sold in October, 2010. According to APA-Economics, demand in January-October dipped 5.5 per cent to 11 279 this year, the figures showed.
Sales in all leading European markets fell, with UK demand dipping 22.2 %, in Germany by 20%, in France 18.5 per cent, by 33.4% in Greece.
Among carmakers, Italy’s Fiat, America’s Ford and Chrysler and Japan’s Toyota were the biggest losers, falling 32.9 per cent, 29.5 per cent, 43.6 per cent and 28.7 per cent respectively. The best performer was BMW, up 5.1 per cent, Volvo rising two per cent and Mitsubishi gaining 43.2 per cent. Peugeot Citroen fell 19.7%, Volkswagen 11.3%.
